Celebrity Portrait Illustration.
TASK: To create a unique illustrated portrait of a celebrity musician for a theoretical article in Rolling Stone.
Amanda Palmer is known for her exuberant personality and avant garde sense of fashion. Her look often includes shaved eyebrows that are redrawn with interesting symbols and shapes.
Before she established her music career she worked as a street performance artist on the street, transforming herself daily into a “living statue” of a bride. When passers-by would give a contribution, she would give them a flower. The flowers have become her symbol of asking for help, the gratitude for receiving it, and for the process of “being seen” as an artist.
