Day 09: Afraid to Do

Challenge: Emerson says: “Always do what you are afraid to do.” What is ‘too scary’ to write about? Try doing it now.

I think I've already covered my scary writing. I was pretty self-conscious about publicly declaring my artistic aspirations, but in general, I'm pretty comfortable with the online sharing. I don't do IRL relationships very well, but speaking from a distance is almost second nature at this point.

There are, however, things that I don't think I would ever write about. Personal memoirs and autobiographies where people dish all the dirt on themselves and their families always astound me. I can't imagine.

I don't know that's it's fear that would keep me from it. Maybe. Mostly I think it's the Southern girl inside me that believes there are certain things that we don't talk about and really, nobody needs to know. I'm generally not much for social convention (Sheldon Cooper is my hero!) but I think there are things that are ingrained in me. You don't talk about money, and while you can talk about everybody else's personal business all day long (bless their hearts), you keep your own deep dark secrets to yourself!
